| A search for soul
Sometimes its just better to be on the other side of the speakers. Australian retro band Wolfmother can probably learn a thing or two by spending time composing their own music rather than producing an album that feasts on Hendrix, The Doors and Black Sabbath. Finding its way at the bottom of the pop heap, the album Wolfmother is an ambitious attempt at being cool. Andrew Stockdale, lead vocalist, mutters gibberish and rather well too, right from the first track Dimension. Sounding like a scratched Osbourne record, Stockdale still throws off talent with his vocals. But the album runs dry of serious heavy guitar leads and power chords. Influential labels and producers can play only second fiddle to serious talent, but in this case the latter seems to be dormant. Where Eagles Have Been sounds like it just got rejected by Lennon on account of monotonous acoustic sound.
Your Views: More on guns and the Virginia shooting
The USA only has to look at the UK for failed gun control laws. These effectively have no affect on deterring gun related crime and drug gangland killings. Keep your right to self defence guns and take no notice of the wooly headed knee jerk liberals. Mike Had the Japanese landed on your shores, they would have forced your ancestors at bayonet-point to rethink the foolish notion that "fear" is our greatest enemy. The right to keep and bear arms separates citizens from serfs. The serfs fear, and beg their King (government) to keep them safe.Kings do not have a good history of keeping their people safe. A few deranged people should not establish national policy for a nation of over 300,000,000 people. Sheryl (Florida, USA) Hi, We don't need stricter gun laws, we need to see the warning signs when they are right in front of our faces.

Lifestyle: Faux Japanese Food Spills Across Globe
With the growing popularity of Japanese food around the world, the number of "Japanese" restaurants opening overseas is rapidly increasing, but many of their operators have inadequate knowledge of, or cooking experience with, Japanese food. The Japanese government is considering launching a system to certify authentic Japanese food restaurants in foreign countries. As a former correspondent for The Yomiuri Shimbun, I myself have had some strange Japanese foods at restaurants in South America. In one country, I was very surprised when the tendon--rice topped with deep-fried prawns, normally served in a round-bottomed bowl--was served in a sushioke, a wide, high-sided platter that is properly used only to present sushi. The prawns were only half-done, and the flavour of the tare sauce was like overly sweet teriyaki sauce.
Coaching changes make Van Zant better on the field
Martel Van Zant, a fan favorite since his arrival on campus in 2004, has overcome more than being hearing impaired while being a Division I athlete. He has also had to learn three complex defenses in four years since he has arrived. Van Zant is going into his fourth and final year as a Cowboy cornerback and will play for his third defensive coordinator this coming season with Tim Beckman recently named as OSUs defensive coordinator. When we had Coach (Bill) Clay, he was easy to understand, but made us work hard, Van Zant said. Then we got Coach (Vance) Bedford. It was a little bit easier defense to understand, but now that we got Coach Beckman, hes got words for everything. That makes it easier for me to understand, when we have words instead of numbers for plays; the defense seems to understand it a little more.
