Virginia Tech Massacre Brings Columbine and Other Senseless ...

DALTON, GA — As images of the Virginia Tech massacre appear on the television screen and in the minds of the victims present, our nation grieves the loss of its friends and family in this same week as the eighth anniversary of Columbine. Cho Seung-Hui from South Korea killed at least 30 people this week and wounded many more—physically and emotionally. Today marks the eighth anniversary of the Columbine shootings in Colorado that tragically killed and wounded students on the high school campus.

A common theme between Seung-Hui and other school shooters is their rage—uncontrollable rage that is not dealt with and comes out in violent forms, including senseless shootings. This was the case with the Columbine shootings, the University of Texas massacre in 1996, and other school shootings.

Minding Your Global Manners

To say that today's business environment is becoming increasingly more global is to state the obvious. Meetings, phone calls and conferences are held all over the world and attendees can come from any point on the globe. On any given business day you can find yourself dealing face-to-face, over the phone, by e-mail and, on rare occasions, by postal letter with people whose customs and cultures differ your own. You may never have to leave home to interact on an international level. While the old adage "When in Rome, do as the Romans do" still holds true, business clients and colleagues who are visiting this country should be treated with sensitivity and with an awareness of their unique culture. Not to do your homework and put your best international foot forward can cost you relationships and future business.

Eteacher: Learn Hebrew Online Direct From Israel

Jerusalem ---- April 16, 2007 . When viewing the Eteacher, HebrewOnline.com ad on an Israel news Website, it appears very modest. One would never guess from first glance that this professional online forum to learn and study Hebrew is the official learn and study Hebrew online site which is endorsed by the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Israel Ministry of Education.

Nor would anyone know that Eteacher and Hebrew Online evolved from a decades old family business. That the founders of HebrewOnline.com, Boaz and Yariv Binnun, were following in the footsteps of their grandfather Aharon Rosen. Rosen was the author of the best seller: Thousand Hebrew Words and had created the first Hebrew learning and study text books in modern Israel back in 1950.

The Internet can be deceiving at times.

American Diabetes Association Launches 'CheckUp America' to Curb ...

ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 18 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A recent survey from the American Diabetes Association (ADA) found that one in five Americans 40 years and older consider important health-related lifestyle changes "too hard" to implement, indicating many are unaware that relatively small steps can be effective in reducing disease risk. In an effort to educate and empower people to take action for their health, the ADA announced today the launch of CheckUp America, a national prevention initiative aimed at helping Americans learn how to lower their risk for type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

"The alarming rise in conditions like obesity, high blood glucose, and high blood pressure in America demands greater efforts to educate both people and physicians about the risk factors for type 2 diabetes and heart disease," said John Buse, MD, PhD, President-Elect, Medicine & Science, American Diabetes Association.
